New Video Shows Off Surface Duo’s ‘Peek’ Feature
Microsoft has been talking a lot about the Surface Duo over the recent months, though the device is not expected to launch till later this year. Duo will be Microsoft’s first foldable Android phone, but Microsoft has been very tight-lipped on the hardware details.
A new video obtained and posted by WalkingCat on Twitter, however, shows off an interesting new feature on the Surface Duo. It’s not exactly clear what the feature is officially called, but it could possibly go by the name “Peek”.
The feature enables users to peek at their notifications on the lock screen and shows the time/date without completely opening up the Surface Duo. The notifications move to the right-hand side of the screen, allowing users to get a preview of their notifications without fully opening the device. You can also dismiss notifications without completely opening the phone.
You can even peek to see who is calling, and opening the device completely will allow you to accept/reject the call:

What is more interesting, however, is that the phone render on the video has the time 6:18 and the date 06/18/2020, which could be a possible teaser for when the next Surface event is scheduled for. As we recently reported, Microsoft is planning to launch new Surface hardware at an event this Spring, and June 18th is just near the end of Spring. So maybe, just maybe, we will get to know more about the Surface Duo (as well as the Surface Neo) this June.
But here’s the thing: Microsoft happens to use 6:18 as the time and June 18 as the date on many Surface renders, so it’s possible this doesn’t actually mean anything at all. We shall see.
