Amazon Launches Upgraded Fire TV Cube, New Soundbar and Smart TVs

Posted September 4, 2019 | Amazon | Anker | Fire TV | Fire TV Cube | Fire TV Edition | Windows

Amazon is launching a lot of Fire TV products today. The highlight here is its new Fire TV Cube, but it’s also announcing a number of other Fire TV products made by third-parties. There are more than 20 new Fire TV products.

The new Fire TV Cube comes with a hexa-core processor, making the device 2x as powerful as the original Fire TV Cube. Along with the upgraded processors, Amazon is also introducing support for Dolby Vision HDR, HDR 10+, and 60FPS @ 4k. The device is also being upgraded to include a faster far-field microphone, which means you can now use Alexa to control your TV without having to use your remote or shout at the screen. What’s more, the new Fire TV Cube features multidirectional infrared and HDMI CEC protocols that will allow the device to automatically turn on/off your TV, soundbar, etc. which is pretty handy. The new device also features support for Multi-Room Music and Alexa Follow-Up mode.

Amazon’s new Fire TV Cube will available to pre-order for $120 on October 10 in the US, Canada, UK and Germany. It will come to Japan on November 5.

And that’s just one product Amazon is launching today as part of the Fire TV brand. In fact, it’s launching a ton of other stuff. Amazon is launching a Fire TV soundbar built in partnership with Anker’s Nebula. The new soundbar allows you to turn any regular TV into a smart TV with Dolby Vision pass-through, 4K HDR, Alexa near-field voice control, support for Fire TV Voice Remote with Alexa, and the entire Fire TV experience. It will be available in the United States for $229.99, shipping on November 21st.

Last but not least, the company is announcing some new Fire TV Edition Smart TVs, from partners like JVC, Skyworth, Arcelik, TPV, and Compal. Amazon is also bringing the Fire TV Edition Smart TVs to the United Kingdom, Germany, and Austria. Toshiba, for example, is releasing a 65-inch Fire TV Edition Smart TV with Dolby Vision in the United States and Canada. Those in Germany and Austria will get a new Fire TV Edition OLED Fire TV built by Grunding with far-field voice control built right into the TV, which is a first for Fire TVs. JVC is expected to launch some models in the United Kingdom, too.

Amazon is also bringing the Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Stick 4K, and the Alexa Voice Remote with device control to customers in France, Italy, and Spain today.
