Apple is launching its news subscription service today: Apple News Plus. After the company acquired digital magazine subscription service Texture back in 2018, this was a no-brainer.

Apple News Plus will be integrated into the Apple News app. Apple says the company’s Apple News app is the #1 news app with millions of articles being read every month.

The company’s new subscription service will allow Apple device owners to get access to magazines and news for a monthly subscription right from Apple News. It’s essentially a Netflix for Magazines.

Apple News Plus will highlight magazines in interesting ways, with things like digital live covers that animate the covers for a new magazine issue, for example. You will be able to swipe between different articles within an issue as well. The design of the service is designed in a way to offer an immersive reading experience regardless of if you are on an iPhone or an iPad. There are different ways to browse throughout the service, including finding the entire catalog. Apple News Plus will also highlight different magazines through things like First Look, and more.

You will get access to around 300 magazines on the service. Apple is announcing some major publishers that will also be part of its new news subscription as well, though a lot of big-name publishers are missing from the list. It will include news from publishers like theSkimm, TechCrunch, The Cut, Los Angeles Times, and The Wall Street Journal.
