Apple iCloud Comes to the Microsoft Store for Windows 10

Posted June 11, 2019 | Apple | Apple iCloud | Cloud | Windows | Windows 10

Microsoft announced today that Apple’s iCloud app is now available in the Microsoft Store for Windows 10. This marks the second major Apple launch in the Microsoft Store after the April 2018 launch of iTunes.

“You can now access your iCloud account across Windows 10 PC and Apple devices,” a Microsoft representative told me. “The iCloud for Windows app is available to download from the Microsoft Store. You can easily access your photos, videos, mail, calendar, files, and other important information from your iCloud account on the go and on your Windows 10 PC.”

If you’ve ever used iCloud on Windows, the version in the Microsoft Store will look awfully familiar: It’s clearly a Desktop Bridge translation of the stock desktop app. It lets you access your iCloud Drive files from File Explorer, choose which files and folders to sync to PC, keep your iCloud photo library synced across devices, sync email, contacts, calendar, and tasks with Microsoft Outlook, and sync bookmarks with Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Chrome.

“The new iCloud for Windows app introduces a new iCloud Drive experience for Windows 10 users powered by the same Windows technology that also powers OneDrive’s Files On-Demand feature, enabling users to be more productive offline on mobile devices and quickly share files on iOS,” Microsoft’s Giorgio Sardo says.

You can find iCloud for Windows in the Microsoft Store.
