Apple Music Finally Launches on the Web

Posted September 5, 2019 | Apple | Apple Music | Music + Videos | Windows

Apple is finally bringing Apple Music to the web. The company is today launching a beta of the new Apple Music web app, and anyone with an Apple Music subscription can use the streaming service on their desktop browser now.

The new Apple Music web app means you no longer need to use Apple’s iTunes app for Windows, and you can simply use the web app to play music on the service.

Apple Music’s web app is launching as a public beta, and it includes all of the basic features. So you can search for songs, playlists, etc., access your For You playlist, Browse, and Radio. You can even preview songs on the web app if you don’t have an Apple Music subscription. Apple even includes an “Install Apple Music” link that opens iTunes/Apple Music app depending on the OS you are running.  Another cool feature is the fact that the website automatically switches between a dark and light theme depending on your browser’s theme settings.

This is obviously just a beta for now, so there might be some rough spots. You can’t yet sign-up for a new Apple Music subscription through the website, but that’s expected to come later on.

Anyway, this has been a long time coming for Apple. Spotify has had a web app for years, and so did other services like Google Play Music, Amazon Prime Music, and YouTube Music, so Apple is playing catch-up here.
