Apple fans interested in the new Apple Watch Series 7 can preorder the device this Friday, October 8, with initial availability on Friday, October 15.

“Apple Watch Series 7 features the largest and most advanced Apple Watch display ever,” the Apple announcement notes, “and a reengineered Always-On Retina display with significantly more screen area and thinner borders. It will be available to order beginning Friday, October 8, at 5 a.m. PDT and available in stores starting Friday, October 15.”

Apple Watch Series 7 was announced at Apple’s September event but its release date was uncertain because of component shortages and quality issues. With this announcement, however, we finally have some dates, though it will be interesting to see whether orders stretch out over time.

The new Apple Watch was widely expected to feature a new design with flat edges, similar to the iPhone, but the quality issues noted above might have delayed that form factor and caused Apple to reuse the familiar design from previous devices instead. That said, Apple claims that the new Watch features softer, more rounded corners, and it does have a much bigger display than previous versions.

Apple Watch Series 7 is available in 41 mm and 45 mm sizes and in aluminum, stainless steel, and titanium materials. Apple Watch Series 7 starts at $399, but prices quickly escalate, and the firm still offers Apple Watch SE ($279 and up) and Apple Watch Series 3 ($199 and up) for its more thrifty customers.
