Apple has been one of the few large companies that have taken serious actions in order to protect employees, customers, and global health against the COVID-19 outbreak. Apple already closed all its retail stores outside China until the end of the month, and it’s now taking new actions to help out its Apple Card customers.

Over the weekend, the company started notifying users that they will be able to skip their Apple Card payments for March if required.  “We understand that the rapidly-evolving COVID-19 situation poses unique challenges for everyone and some customers may have difficulty making their monthly payments,” the email read.

TechCrunch reports that the process for skipping the payments for March is as easy as joining the Customer Assistance Program. Apple is working with Goldman Sachs, the provider of the Apple Card, to help users skip their March payments.

Tens of thousands of customers have already apparently taken advantage of the new Customer Assistance Program as of Sunday night.

Apple Card owners can join the Customer Assistance Program via this link, or they can also request to join via the Messages app on their iPhone. It’s still not clear if Apple plans on expanding the option to April — at least for now.

It seems like Goldman Sachs is helping Apple enable this option for customers. The bank is also enabling customers of its Marcus platform to skip payments for March, reports Bloomberg. Apple and Goldman Sachs are one of the few companies waving payments for customers at this difficult time, with other banks such as Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Chase, Capital One, American Express, and more also offering to help out customers.
