Facebook surprised a lot of people when the company started experimenting with the removal of like counts on Instagram. Like counts are a big deal on social media platforms like Instagram, but people often to obsess over like counts to a point it affects their mental health.

And while Instagram is still testing the removal of like counts in some regions, Facebook has now started testing the same change, too. Jane Manchun Wong first spotted the new change hidden within Facebook’s Android app, which hides the like/reaction count from other users. That means only you will be able to see your posts’ like counts, just like the feature works on Instagram.

Facebook later confirmed to TechCrunch that the company is considering the removal of like counts, though it’s not started testing the feature with users just yet. I personally think this is a great change more social networks should adopt, but I assume Facebook is doing a ton of tests across both Facebook and Instagram to see if it actually changes human behaviour and whether it will be a healthy change.
