Facebook is launching a brand new market research app called Facebook Viewpoints in the United States. The company’s latest effort for collecting data involves users getting paid for answering surveys. The data from these surveys are apparently going to be used for improving Facebook products.

Facebook has done similar things before, and most recently the company was faced with a lot of controversies after it was found to be snooping users’ data in exchange for rewards via a VPN app. Facebook is being careful this time around, though.

Facebook Viewpoints has “programs” that you can join to earn more points, which then translate into actual money that can be sent directly to your PayPal account. Facebook is first starting off with a Well-Being Survey program where users are asked questions on how social media affects their well-being.

Facebook says it will clearly provide details on how your information is used for each program, and it also says it won’t sell your information to third parties. Users will also be able to cancel their Viewpoints account whenever they want.
