Google is revamping the experience for sharing photos in Google Photos. The service already offers a couple of features dedicated to making photo sharing easier, but it’s now adding an interesting new feature to make things even easier.

Google Photos is getting a built-in chat functionality where users can share pictures from their library with others. I have lost count of the number of chat apps Google has made so far, but we will add this new one to the list either way.

Google says the new chat feature isn’t designed to replace the chat apps you already use, though. It still offers a pretty hand way to share photos with your friends and family, as long as they are on Google Photos as well. You can share one-off photos and videos in an ongoing, private conversation in the app that can be accessed whenever you want. Members in a conversation can like photos or comment within the conversation, and they can also save photos or videos directly to their own gallery.

The new chat feature will be joining Google’s existing live albums, shared libraries, and shared albums features that already make sharing photos on Google Photos a breeze. But if, for some reason, you wanted a chat functionality integrated into the app, your wishes have now been fulfilled. The new feature is rolling out over the next week on Android, iOS, and web.
