Echoes Within, the third multiplayer season of Halo Infinite is launching today on Xbox consoles and PC. Microsoft claims that it’s the biggest content update for Halo Infinite’s multiplayer, adding 3 new maps, a new Escalation Slayer mode, and more.

Halo Infinite’s second season, which launched back in May 2022 was unusually long for a live service game of this caliber. It was followed by the Winter Update in November, which added the much-anticipated network co-op for the game’s campaign, mission replay, plus the new Forge beta.

“I feel very confident with where we’ve gone with Season 3, and I have very strong confidence that we’re going to be able to keep improving that consistency, and avoid, completely, the long seasons of the past. We’re going to be more consistent. We’re going to continue to evolve the game in close partnership with our players,” said Sean Baron, 343 Industries’ Head of Live Performance.

Here’s everything that’s new in Halo Infinite’s season 3:

New maps: Players can now discover two arena maps, Chasm and Cliffhanger, and a new Bit Team Battle map named Oasis.

New game mode: In the new Escalation Slayer mode, players will have to unlock 11 different weapon levels and have their perform a kill with the final weapon, the Oddball, to win the match.

New support equipment: The new Shroud Screen equipment creates an opaque dome on the battlefield where players can hide, though the shroud screen won’t protect them from bullets and grenades.

New weapon: The M392 Bandit Rifle is a new precision weapon with no scope and only five bullets in the clip, and 343 Industries says it wanted to create something reminiscent of the Halo 5 Magnum.

New cosmetics: The Season 3 Battle Pass will instantly unlock the the Red Steel Splinter Armor Coating for all available cores. There are also two new free armor cores, Mirage and Chimera.

Halo Infinite’s Season 3 update will go live at 11 AM PT today. If you haven’t played it yet, Halo Infinite’s multiplayer mode is free to play on Xbox, the Windows Microsoft Store, and Steam, and it also supports cross-play between Xbox and PC.
