HP Announces New Spectre x360 15, Elite Dragonfly, More

With CES 2020 now in full swing, HP has announced a new 15-inch Spectre x360 and an updated Elite Dragonfly notebook.

“We are passionate about creating devices and computing experiences that lead us into the future and enable more freedom in how the next generation creates, consumes content, and collaborates,” HP president lex Cho said in a prepared statement that was shared with me recently. “As the PC becomes increasingly relevant, HP continues delivering amazing devices, and display and accessory innovations that deliver both performance and lightness, durability and design, and mobility and privacy.”

The Spectre x360 15 is essentially a 15-inch version of the new Spectre x360 13 that I’m currently evaluating, and it features the same basic angular form factor and innards. The big change, of course, is the display, which is a 15.6-inch 4K OLED panel with tiny bezels that delivers an incredible 90 percent screen-to-body ratio. The x360 provides WiFi 6 capabilities, 10th-generation Intel Core processors, and NVIDIA GeForce graphics, and up to 17 hours of battery life, HP says. Like its smaller sibling, it also comes with an HP Webcam Kill Switch, a dedicated microphone mute button, and a fingerprint reader.

HP just released the stunning Elite Dragonfly this past fall—I’m evaluating this one as well—but the firm tells me that it wants to iterate quickly on its most exciting designs, so there are new models coming this year with integrated 5G wireless capabilities, the HP Sure View Reflect privacy screen technologies, and integrated Tile smart location capabilities.

Additionally, HP has announced some other interesting PC and peripherals products, including the 32-inch HP ENVY 32 AIO all-in-one PC, the HP E24d G4 and HP E27d G4 Advanced Docking Monitors, the HP Renew Sleeve, and the HP Renew Series of backpacks, toploads, totes, and slim briefs, all made from 100 percent recycled PET, or plastic bottles.

The HP Spectre x360 15 will ship in March and will start at $1600. The HP Elite Dragonfly with optional Sure View Reflect and Tile integration will ship in February. The HP Elite Dragonfly with 5G will ship sometime this coming summer, HP says.
