LinkedIn Now Lets You Send GIFs in Messages

Posted April 11, 2018 | LinkedIn | Social | Tenor | Windows

If you have been following LinkedIn lately, you probably noticed the company has been adding some “cool” features a regular social network would have. Just last month, the social network picked up Snapchat-inspired filters for its video platform.

Today, LinkedIn started rolling out GIFs in messages. The company has partnered with GIF platform Tenor to let users send GIFs in messages, allowing them to search for GIFs on Tenor’s platform, and share them within conversations. Tenor was recently acquired by Google, and it powers GIFs in other messaging apps like Facebook Messenger.

“For the next generation of professionals, visual communication using GIFs and emojis is second nature and a universal language. To make it easier for you to communicate on LinkedIn, we’ve teamed up with Tenor to integrate GIFs directly into Messaging. Now you can quickly search for GIFs straight within messaging and send on the spot,” LinkedIn said in a blog post. GIFs in LinkedIn messages is an interestingly addition, mainly due to the fact that you probably won’t be sending GIFs in a conversation with your potential future employer, and other professional scenarios. But GIFs are a fun way of expressing emotion, and they aren’t too much of a big deal in modern workplaces.
