macOS Catalina Launches With New Apps, Project Catalyst, More

Posted June 3, 2019 | Apple | Mac and macOS | macOS | macOS 10.15 | macOS Catalina | Windows

Apple is taking the wraps off macOS 10.15, also known as Catalina at WWDC today. The company is introducing a bunch of new features for macOS today, but the main focus is on the new cross-platform apps that allow iOS app developers to bring their apps to the Mac.

Here’s almost everything that’s coming with macOS 10.15:

  • iTunes is getting split up into three different apps: Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, and Apple TV.
  • Project Catalyst (aka Marzipan): lets you use iPad apps on the Mac. Available to developers today, so they will be able to bring their iPad apps to the Mac.
  • Sidecar: lets you use your iPad as a second display for your Mac. Works both wired, and wirelessly.
  • Voice Control lets you control your Mac entirely with your voice. It actually looks pretty cool.
  • Screen Time is now available on the Mac, so you can understand your usage and limit your usage if needed.
  • Find My: a new app that combines your devices and friends. It can now find your devices that are even offline, using other people’s devices to help you find your device while giving you full anonymity.
  • Updated Photos app, and a new start page for Safari.
  • A newly redesigned Reminders app.

macOS 10.15 will be available to developers later today.
