Meta Announces Connect Digital Event on October 11
Meta will be holding a new Connect event on October 11 to share updates on its various metaverse projects. The free event will be streamed live, and the opening keynote will be followed by on-demand breakout sessions for developers interested in building VR experiences.
“Last year, we pulled back the curtain on our vision for the metaverse and the next era of social computing. This year, we’ll share updates on the progress we’ve made, plus a look at what’s to come in the near and far future, the company wrote on the Oculus blog yesterday.

Connect is an annual developer event that’s been around for nine years, starting when Oculus was still an independent company. Meta will likely use this year’s event to officially unveil a new VR headset codenamed “Project Cambria.” Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg himself teased that the new headset would launch in October in a recent episode of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast.
This year’s Connect digital event may also give us some updates on Horizon Worlds, the company’s collaborative VR platform released last year. Horizon Worlds just launched in more European countries last month, and Mark Zuckerberg recently promised that “major updates to Horizon and avatar graphics” were coming soon.
