Microsoft Finally Fixes Windows 10 Version 1903 Blocking Issue

Posted July 13, 2019 | Windows | Windows 10

Microsoft has quietly fixed three major issues with Windows 10 version 1903, one of which was preventing users from upgrading to this version.

Despite its promises of increased transparency, the firm has not announced or discussed these important fixes via its corporate blogs. Instead, it has silently updated a Known Issues page on Microsoft Docs.

You’ve probably heard about at least one of these issues: Infamously, Windows 10 would not upgrade to version 1903 if the user had a USB storage device or memory card plugged-in to their PC. This has been a known 1903 blocker since mid-May, but it was quietly fixed two days ago, on May 11.

Two other major issues with Windows 10 version 1903 were quietly fixed this week as well. One regards audio loss with Dolby Atmos headphones or Dolby Atmos home theater, and the other is a major flaw in Event Viewer that made the app unusable.

Microsoft is investigating three more known issues in Windows 10 version 1903 related to Windows Sandbox (a new virtualization feature in this release), Remote Desktop, and display brightness. And users have reported a fourth issue related to the dGPU on Surface Book 2, which Microsoft has “acknowledged.”

Presumably, Windows 10 version 1903 will be “perfect” once these issues are all fixed.

It’s unfortunate that Microsoft didn’t think to communicate these fixes. But thanks to Neowin for the tip.
