Microsoft Releases Windows 10 Build 19577 to Insiders

Posted March 5, 2020 | Privacy | Windows | Windows 10 | Windows Security

Microsoft is releasing a new Windows 10 build to Insiders in the Fast Ring today. The company is rolling out build 19577 of the Windows 10 20H2 release to Insiders this evening.

The new update does not include any major changes, but it includes some interesting changes to how Microsoft collects diagnostic data in the OS.

As you may know, there are two different levels of diagnostic data that you can send to Microsoft: basic, or full. Microsoft is now renaming “Basic Diagnostic Data” to “Require Daigonistc Data” and “Full Diagnostic Data” to “Optional Diagnostic Data.” This will make things a lot more transparent for users.

Microsoft is also giving commercial users more control over what kind of data is collected with Optional Diagnostic Data enabled via Group Policy settings. The company will detail more of these new policies closer to the final release.

There is one important thing to note, though: you need to set your device to send Full Diagnostic Data before updating to build 19577 as you will not be able to get future builds otherwise.

And last but not least, there’s a new icon for Windows Security that matches the new Fluent Design-inspired iconography design in Windows 10. You can find the full changelog for build 19577 here.
