Microsoft has released today Windows 10 version 22H2, which follows the release of Windows 11 version 22H2 last month. Both versions of Windows now get “major” updates once a year, though Microsoft still isn’t exactly transparent about what’s new in Windows 10 version 22H2.

“Windows 10, version 22H2 will have a limited set of features focused on productivity and management. We will deliver the 2022 Update using servicing technology (like that used for the monthly update process) to meet our customers’ needs based on feedback,” said John Cable, Vice President, Program Management, Windows Servicing and Delivery.

This is pretty much all the information about the Windows 10 22H2 we can find in the announcement post about this update. There’s no more information about new features in a separate blog post for IT pros. Microsoft never went into specifics about this update since it’s been available for Windows Insiders, and this silence is pretty curious. We’ll update this post if we can get more information about new features.

As usual, Windows 10 version 22H2 update is available via the “seeker” experience in Windows Update, but users with eligible devices may also get the option to install Windows 11 instead. Windows 10 version 22H2 will receive 18 months of support for Home and Pro users, with Enterprise and Education users getting 30 months of servicing.

Microsoft is committed to supporting Windows 10 until 2025, but the OS isn’t going to get any flashy new features going forward. However, if you’re not a fan of the design changes in Windows 11, Windows 10 should continue to serve you well for at least 3 years.
