Microsoft Unleashes an Xbox Tsunami at X019

Posted November 15, 2019 | Games | Project Xcloud | Windows | Xbox One

Microsoft unleashed a tsunami of Xbox-related news at its X019 live event at the Copper Box Arena in London on Thursday.

Key among them, of course, is the news that the software giant’s Project xCloud service now supports 50 games in preview, a significant advantage over Google’s planned launch of 12 games for its Stadia streaming service. But it’s not just xCloud. Microsoft also announced a stunning array of other Xbox-related goodness. Key announcements include:

Black Friday deals. Expanding on its previous Black Friday announcement, Microsoft said Thursday that the Xbox One X, Xbox One S, and Xbox One S All Digital Edition consoles are all up to $150 off. You can also get three months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for just $1. And Xbox Game Studios titles are up to 50 percent off.

56 more games come to Xbox Game Pass. We usually get several new Xbox Game Pass titles each month, but this holiday season, we’re getting over 50 new games. And then we’re getting some killer Microsoft Studio games in 2020, too, including the new Flight Simulator on both console and PC.

Xbox Game Pass now includes EA Access, Discord Nitro, and Spotify trials. In a neat deal for new subscribers, Xbox Game Pass now comes with one month of EA Access, three months of Discord Nitro, and six months of Spotify Premium.

Halo Reach comes to PC. As the first step in bringing its entire Halo: Master Chief collection to the PC, Microsoft will deliver Halo Reach on PC on December 3. The long wait is finally coming to a close.

Minecraft Dungeons. While it’s still a bit of a mystery, Microsoft publicly demoed some in-game action from the upcoming Minecraft Dungeons game.

Rare. AAA game developer Rare will follow up its hit Sea of Thieves title with the next free monthly update to Sea of Thieves, called The Seabound Soul, which arrives on November 20, and a new game, Everwild, which it describes as “an experience that allows for new ways to play in a natural and magical world.”

There were many, many more game title announcements, of course. Check out the Xbox Wire for the details.
