Microsoft announced at its Ignite 2022 conference today a new Microsoft 365 app for Windows, mobile devices, and the web. The new app will replace Microsoft’s all-in-one Office app that’s already available on the same platforms, and it will bring together content creation capabilities, content discovery, and recommendations for Microsoft 365 users.

“Microsoft 365 comes alive in the new Microsoft 365 app, home to all your favorite productivity apps—Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook—along with new apps for creation and expression, like Loop, and third-party apps you choose,” explained Microsoft’s CVP of Modern Work Jared Spataro. “It’s a secure, integrated, experience built on the Microsoft Graph that brings together all your documents, files, contacts, meetings, and more—with intelligent, Graph-powered recommendations personalized for you.”

Compared to the existing all-in-one Office app, this new Microsoft 365 app will bring a couple of new features such as the ability to use tags to classify documents. A new feed will also surface shared files from colleagues and trending content in an organization. Moreover, an apps module will provide a unified interface to access productivity apps from Microsoft and third-party providers.

The new Microsoft 365 app will start rolling out on Windows, mobile devices, and the web in November, Microsoft announced today. It will come with a new icon that you can see in the feature image above.
