Razer Introduces Its First Gaming Monitor, Updates Blade 15 With RTX GPUs

Posted January 7, 2019 | CES 2019 | Hardware | Razer | Razer Blade 15 Advanced | Razer Ratpro | Windows

Razer is launching some new products at CES 2019 today. The company’s new announcements aren’t anywhere near extravagant as some of the other manufacturers like Dell, HP, etc, but its new products are actually very interesting.

Let’s talk about the new Razer Raptor Gaming Monitor. It’s the company’s first gaming monitor with a 27-inch WQHD panel with support for AMD’s FreeSync tech. The display itself is surrounded by bezels that are only 2.3mm thin, so it looks pretty gorgeous for a monitor. The display itself has a refresh rate of 144Hz offering a response rate of 1ms, and a 95% DCI-P3 color gamut, and support for HDR.

And that’s pretty basic, of course. But the Raptor has a unique, Razer feel to it. For example, the stand of the monitor has a really interesting way for managing your cables. If you are a sucker for good cable management, you will probably want to get this thing. The back of the base is designed in a way that you can tuck your cables into the stand itself, so they are harder to notice. Razer is even including its own branded cables for the power cord, HDMI, display port, USB-A port, and USB-C port, which is also a nice touch.

The bottom of the stand comes in a blend of fabric and metal that gives it a premium feel — and yes, it has RGB. A Razer product, obviously, would not be a Razer product without lights. And this thing has lights, the Razer Chroma-powered ones, so you can customize them with Razer’s software much like everything else it makes.

And then there is the new Blade 15. The company is launching the new Blade 15 Advanced with Nvidia’s new GeForce RTX 20-series GPUs. The device will be available with the new RTX 2060 with 6GB of GDDR6 RAM, the RTX 2070, and the RTX 2080. Both the RTX 2070 and RTX 2080 variants come with NVIDIA’s Max-Q design and 8GB of GDDR6 RAM. The device comes with Intel’s 8th gen hexa-core i7-8750H processor, up to 16GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of storage.

Razer’s new Raptor gaming monitor will be available later this year in the U.S. and Canada for $699.99. The new Razer Blade 15 Advanced will be available form January 29, starting at $2,299 United States, Canada, France, United Kingdom, Germany, and China.
