A report in The Wall Street Journal confirms rumors about 2020 iPhone delays, noting that Apple will also slash production by 20 percent.

“Apple is pushing back the production ramp-up of its flagship iPhones coming later this year by about a month, according to people familiar with the changes, as the Coronavirus pandemic weakens global consumer demand and disrupts manufacturing across Asia, the heart of the consumer electronics supply chain,” the report claims. But “Apple is [still] forging ahead with plans to release four new iPhone models later this year, people familiar with its plans say.”

Last week, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, a noted Apple rumormonger, told investors of a “potential delay risk” in the production of the 2020 iPhone lineup, which will include at least three models like last year, and will be the first Apple products to support 5G networking capabilities. The WSJ report appears to confirm this news.

The new iPhones are expected to carry the iPhone 12 brand and mimic the 2019 lineup with iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Max models, each with different screen sizes. Some reports also claim there will be a fourth model, with a smaller 5.4-inch display and a more affordable price tag. Others claim that the iPhone 12 lineup will come with smaller notches and bezels than the current models, and that the Pro versions will resemble the iPad Pro lineup with hard-edged sides reminiscent of the iPhone 4/5 lineups of the past.

Apple will report its first Coronavirus-era earnings this Thursday, on April 30.
