Report: Microsoft Bing Could Soon Integrate OpenAI’s Faster ChatGPT-4

Posted February 2, 2023 | Bing | Bing + MSN | ChatGPT | Cloud | Windows

Microsoft’s Bing search engine is about to integrate a faster version of OpenAI’s ChatGPT chatbot, according to a Semafor. The new report says GPT-4, the new version of ChatGPT will come to Bing “in the coming weeks.”

“OpenAI’s latest software responds much faster than the current version, and the replies sound more human and are more detailed, according to people familiar with the product and rollout plans,” the report says.

As of today, ChatGPT sometimes needs a couple of minutes to answer queries as the algorithm powering it is resource intensive. OpenAI also announced ChatGPT Plus yesterday, a new subscription plan that will provide faster response times and priority access to ChatGPT improvements.

This new report follows a previous report from the Information claiming that Bing was getting a ChatGPT upgrade “before the end of March.” According to Semafor, OpenAI is also planning to release a ChatGPT mobile app and upgrade its Dall-E image generator with video capabilities.

Microsoft recently extended its partnership with OpenAI and said that it’s planning to integrate the company’s cutting-edge AI technology into its consumer and enterprise products. Bing getting ChatGPT capabilities could definitely help the search engine get the mindshare it desperately needs to compete more seriously with Google.

Following decades of Google domination, the search engine field may become much more competitive pretty soon. According to a report from CNBC, Google is currently testing ChatGPT-like competitors internally as well a new search page that integrates a new chat technology.

Last but not least, Yahoo, which currently uses Microsoft Bing to provide search results on its portal has been teasing the launch of a new in-house search engine. “We’re excited to start exploring again…and will be patient figuring it all out,” Yahoo CEO Jim Lanzone tweeted earlier this week.
