Samsung is upgrading its Galaxy Buds wireless earbuds with the new Galaxy Buds+. The company’s Galaxy Buds are alternatives to AirPods for those using Android phones, but mainly Samsung’s own Galaxy devices.

The new Galaxy Buds+ are not a massive upgrade, but there are some important changes.

The main upgrade here is the battery life. Samsung says the Galaxy Buds+ will now offer 11 hours of playback compared to the 6 hours on the regular Galaxy Buds. And combined with the charging case, users will be able to get 22 hours of battery life.

Samsung has also upgraded the Fast Charge capability with the new Galaxy Buds+. Previously, users would get 100 minutes of playback with 15 minutes of charging, but you can now get 60 minutes of playback with only 3 minutes of charging.

As for the sound quality itself, Samsung’s new Galaxy Buds+ include dedicated woofer and tweeter on each earbuds, which should improve the audio quality. There is also an additional outer mic on the buds now, which should improve voice call quality.

But more importantly, the touchpad on the Galaxy Buds+ now includes support for Spotify, allowing users to instantly open Spotify on their device from the buds. You will still be able to play/pause, skip, and control volume using the touchpad like before.

Samsung says the new Galaxy Buds+ is iOS compatible as well, so you will be able to use the earbuds with any iPhone running iOS 10 or newer.

Samsung is also giving away the Galaxy Buds+ for free those who pre-order the Galaxy S20+ or S20 Ultra. The earbuds will be available in Black, White, and Blue for $149.
