Samsung’s Next Galaxy Note Won’t Have Any Physical Buttons, or a Headphone Jack

Posted May 30, 2019 | Android | Galaxy | Galaxy Note 10 | Hardware | Windows

Samsung could be making some major changes to the Galaxy Note design with the next iteration. Android Police is reporting that the company is working on significant design changes to the Galaxy Note 10 that could surprise many.

Firstly, Samsung is getting read of the headphone jack from the Note 10. And even though the company has been including the headphone jack on its phones unlike every other phone maker, it’s not really a surprise to see Samsung taking away the 3.5mm connector.

But more interestingly, Samsung could be getting rid of physical keys from the next Note device. The company is apparently going to replace things like the power button, volume keys, and the Bixby button with new capacitive buttons or pressure-sensitive areas that act similar to the buttons.

It will also be interesting to see whether these changes come to the Galaxy S11.

Removing physical buttons from Note 10 would allow Samsung to create a thinner design without losing the rigidity of the hardware as there will be fewer cutouts due to the lack of the buttons. But the design change could still be really significant and affect the device’s usability. At this point, it’s very early to be able to tell whether the new changes will make much of a difference, so we will have to wait till there’s more info on both the changes coming with the Note 10.
