Twitter has started testing a much-anticipated Edit Tweet feature. Twitter Blue subscribers will get early access to it later this month, but everyone can already see if a tweet has been edited by users in the test group.

While Twitter users have been asking for an Edit feature for years, Twitter has put some safeguards in place to make sure that it can’t be abused. There will be a time limit for editing tweets, and previous versions of the tweet will also remain visible.

“For this test, Tweets will be able to be edited a few times in the 30 minutes following their publication. Edited Tweets will appear with an icon, timestamp, and label so it’s clear to readers that the original Tweet has been modified. Tapping the label will take viewers to the Tweet’s Edit History, which includes past versions of the Tweet,” the company explained.

If you’re looking forward to testing this upcoming Edit Tweet feature, Twitter said that the public test will first be restricted to a single country where Twitter Blue is available before expanding to more markets. “We’ll also be paying close attention to how the feature impacts the way people read, write, and engage with Tweets,” the company said.

In addition to this upcoming Edit Tweet feature, Twitter has started testing the integration of podcasts into its Spaces tab. Yesterday, the company also started rolling out a new Circle feature that lets users send tweets to a limited group of followers.
