Twitter Is Finally Deleting Inactive Accounts

Posted November 26, 2019 | Social | Twitter | Windows

Twitter has started taking actions against inactive accounts, which means you may finally get access to the username you have been craving to get. The company today confirmed that it has started reaching out to inactive users to warn them about the removal, giving them an opportunity to keep their account.

The move comes as part of Twitter’s effort to present more accurate, and credible information on its platform. And to help with that, the company wants to encourage people to actively log-in to their account after they register an account.

Twitter says users who have not logged into Twitter in over six months will be warned of their accounts being permanently removed. Users will still have the opportunity to keep their account if they log in, but if they don’t, Twitter will free up the username and let anyone else take the username for their account, reports TechCrunch.

There is a big catch, though: Twitter isn’t saying exactly when the company will open up the inactive usernames to other people, so you may actually have to wait a little while before the username you want is available. It might be a long wait, but to be honest, the username might be worth the wait.
