Twitter has started testing a brand-new tweetstorm feature on mobile devices. The social network recently doubled its character limit for tweets across all devices and platforms, bringing the limit up to 280 characters. Twitter has started testing the new tweetstorm feature on its mobile apps for a few weeks now, the company told TechCrunch. The feature was recently spotted on the company’s alpha app for Android devices by Android Police.

The built-in tweetstorm feature will make life easier for a lot of Twitter users. Right now, tweeting long threads can be quite annoying as you need to include the number of tweets that are going to be in the thread and also make sure you aren’t breaking the thread by replying to the wrong tweet. But soon, instead of manually tweeting each tweet in a thread, you will be able to write the whole thread at once and publish the whole thread with a single click of a button.

I quickly tried the feature out today, and while it definitely makes tweeting long threads easier, there’s one major flaw. The feature lets you make threads with tweets that can have their own images and cards, but you can’t delete the whole thread with a single click. So if you make a typo in one of the tweets on your thread, you will have to delete all the tweets in your thread separately, and then re-tweet them. This would not be too much of a problem if there was an edit feature, but that’s nowhere to be seen.

Additionally, combined with the recent 280 characters update, the tweetstorm feature could let people make really long threads or even write entire blog posts as a joke which will bloat up your timeline easily. This is Twitter we are talking about here, so the feature will most certainly get misused by some users at the beginning.
