Ubisoft Launches $14.99/month Game Subscription Service for PC, Google Stadia

Posted June 10, 2019 | Ubisoft | Uplay+ | Windows | Xbox | Xbox One

Ubisoft is making a big announcement at E3 this evening. The game maker today announced its new Uplay+ subscription service, a brand new game subscription service from the company that works a lot like Xbox Game Pass.

Uplay+ will give customers access to 100+ games made by Ubisoft on their PC. Ubisoft will give users access to its existing games, as well as its upcoming releases as part of the subscription, which costs a whopping $14.99 a month. Along with the games, Ubisoft customers will also get access to the premium editions of the game, as well as DLC and post-launch content which is actually an impressive deal.

Uplay+ will give customers access to some of Ubisoft’s most popular titles like Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell, and Beyond Good & Evil, as well as its upcoming launches like Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Watch Dogs: Legion, and more.

“Uplay+ also gives you a great reason to jump back into games you may have already played. Say you’ve completed the main campaign of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, but decided not to pick up the Season Pass, and missed out on The Legacy of the First Blade and Fate of Atlantis story arcs. With Uplay+, you’ll have instant access to both expansions,” the company said.

Uplay+ is not only limited to PCs, and will be coming to Stadia in the future. That means you will be able to stream games part of your Uplay+ subscription via Google’s streaming service which actually sounds really interesting. Obviously, Stadia’s base service will let you stream the games in 1080p, and you will have to pay an additional $9.99 a month for Stadia Pro if you want to access 4K streaming.

Either way, Uplay+ seems really promising if you are a big fan of Ubisoft games. And if you are not, the $14.99 a month pricing probably won’t be doing any favours for Ubisoft, especially considering Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass for PC is much cheaper at $9.99 a month and gives you access to games from a wider array of publishers. And for $14.99 a month, Microsoft gives you access to Xbox Live Gold features, as well as Xbox Game Pass for PC and Console. The only thing missing now are the DLCs and post-launch content for individual titles.
