Valve’s Steam Deck can now be purchased without reservation. The handheld gaming PC has been in high demand since its release back in February 2022, but enthusiasts no longer have to join a waitlist to get one.

“The team has worked hard over the past year to address shortages and solve logistics issues, and because of these efforts we’re now manufacturing and shipping Steam Decks at our highest rate ever. Despite the ever-increasing reservation rate, we’ve been able to beat our shipping estimates, and as of today, finally complete the queue,” the company said yesterday.

You can purchase a Steam Deck on Valve’s website, and the portable PC starts at $399. The base model only has 64GB of eMMC storage, Valve also offers models with 256GB of SSD storage or 512GB for $529 and 649, respectively. All Steam Deck models also support expandable storage via a microSD card slot.

Yesterday, Valve also unveiled a new Steam Deck Docking Station that connects via USB-C. On the rear, the Docking Station features 3 USB-A ports, a Gigabit Ethernet port, an HDMI 2.0 port, and a Display Port 1.4 port. If the Docking Station can charge the Steam Deck, it doesn’t provide additional performance benefits and external GPUs are also not supported.

The Steam Deck Docking Station is priced at $89 and it will start shipping within 1-2 weeks. Of course, since the Steam Deck is a PC, it works with other USB-C docks as well. “The work we did on SteamOS to make the Docking Station work great with Steam Deck helps improve compatibility with other 3rd party hubs and docks as well,” Valve explained.

Valve also announced a couple of software updates for the Steam Deck yesterday. There are new drivers and firmware to improve performance in games. Moreover, SteamOS also received scaling, resolution, and refresh rate settings for external displays to improve the docked experience.
