The latest AdDuplex report shows that Windows 10 version 1903 has surged 11 percentage points to 57 percent usage vs. other versions of the OS.

The data is based on a survey of 90,000 PCs.

“[Windows 10 version 1803] is approaching the end of support, and we can see how that has accelerated the upgrades to [version 1903],” the AdDuplex report notes. “Almost all of 11 percent gained by [1903] come[s] from [1803] and not from [version 1809].”

Whew. That’s a lot of editing there, sorry, but the folks at AdDuplex, like so many others, mix up the names of Windows 10 versions with the names of the feature updates that upgraded PCs to those versions. It’s important to get this stuff right. (Even Microsoft screws this up, for whatever it’s worth. But then Windows 10 is clearly not a priority there, despite the billions in generates every quarter.)

As for the future, AdDuplex notes that “we are now back to a familiar situation of the last two [Windows 10] releases running on most of the PCs out there” ahead of the release of a new version, 1909. That’s set for November.

AdDuplex also provides some Surface usage numbers, but since they come right at the release of new major new Surface PC releases, they’re not particularly telling. I’ll check in on that next month.
