Microsoft has just detailed the first Game Pass additions of 2023, which include two previously-announced games. Indeed, the J-RPGs Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden will join Persona 5: Royal on the library on January 19, and they will be followed by Capcom’s Monster Hunter Rise on January 20.

The latter will be a day-one release on Game Pass for Console, PC, and Cloud. Monster Hunter Rise has been released on PC a year ago (and on Nintendo Switch a year before), but the critically-acclaimed action RPG title will finally hit Xbox and PlayStation consoles on January 20.

That’s it for the first wave of Game Pass games for January 2023, which focuses on “iconic franchises from beloved Japanese developers,“ the Xbox team said today. We’re just getting warmed up and we’ll be back soon with more games, more Perks, and more news,” the team also teased

In other Game Pass-related news, six games will be leaving the Game Pass library on January 15: The list includes We Happy Few, The Anacrusis, Windjammers 2, Nobody Saves The World, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, and Pupperazzi.

According to Windows Central, Microsoft is planning to hold an Xbox event on January 25 that should focus on upcoming Xbox exclusives such as Redfall, Minecraft Legends, and Forza Motorsport. If Microsoft goes forward with that plan, we’ll likely hear more Game Pass announcements on that day.
