Microsoft Lets Everyone Try its New Bing Chatbot

Posted March 15, 2023 | Bing | Bing + MSN | Cloud | Microsoft | Microsoft Consumer Services | Windows

Microsoft is apparently allowing everyone who joins the waitlist for its Bing chatbot to access it immediately. Windows Central was first to report that everyone could sign up for the preview and get instant access to the chatbot, and I can also confirm that it works as of this writing.

Since Microsoft has yet to comment on the situation, it’s not clear if this is a temporary bug or if the company is ready to expand access to its new Bing AI to all early enthusiasts. If you have yet to sign up for the preview, you can do so on bing.com/new and you should get a message and email telling you that you’re in right after.

I got immediate access to the Bing chatbot after joining the waitlist

Microsoft previously said that it had “millions” of active users of the Bing preview, which helped the search engine cross 100 million daily active users. The company also confirmed yesterday that the new Bing is powered by OpenAI’s GPT-4, which the company has “customized for search.”

I’ve reached out to Microsoft about the Bing Chatbot waitlist and I’ll update this post if I hear anything back. In the meantime, be aware that Microsoft recently raised the limit of chat responses to 15 per session, while the maximum number of sessions per day has been raised to 150. The latest update for Microsoft Edge released earlier this week also added a dedicated button for the new Bing AI, which Microsoft would like to become your “copilot for the web.
