Motorola One Macro: first camera samples
It’s been two weeks since the Motorola One Macro made its debut in India, and now, the mid-range smartphone is being rolled out globally. Instead of paying the equivalent of $150 like Indian customers, buyers in Europe will have to shell out about €200.Anyway, we got our hands on a Motorola One Macro and tested what appears to be its main selling point – the macro mode. The Motorola One Macro comes with a triple camera, just like many other phones in the same price range, but there’s one thing that sets it apart, the 2-megapixel macro camera that features an f/2.2 aperture and 1.75µm pixels.
It’s not a big camera, but it does make a difference if you want to take close up shots. You see, this small 2-megapixel macro camera has the advantage of being capable to focus on objects that are just 2cm (0.8-inches) away, which is about 5 times closer compared to a typical smartphone. Not only do you get the ability to take extreme close-ups and reveal minute detail, but you also get real bokeh (artistic background blur) in the photo without any image processing.
You do need very good light conditions to be able to get great macro pictures, but those passionate about Instagram will most likely find ways to achieve this. We’ve taken some shots with the macro camera and although they’re not made in a studio, we believe they’re pretty decent for a phone that costs just €200.
The rest of the One Macro’s specs aren’t impressive, but they’re definitely great for a mid-range phone: 6.2-inch notched display with HD+ resolution, 13-megapixel main camera, 2-megapixel depth sensor, MediaTek Helio P70 processor, 4GB RAM, and 64GB expandable storage.
Although Motorola confirmed the Macro One is now available for purchase in Europe, there’s no mention of a US release, but we’ll update the news once we have something to share.
