Pandora and Amazon team up to bring Alexa Linking to iPhone users

Posted September 19, 2019 | Mobile | News

Amazon and Pandora have a long-standing partnership, which allowed the latter to bring its music streaming service on all Alexa devices. The feature was introduced last year and made available to all Pandora Premium users.

Starting this week, Amazon and Pandora announced they have expanded their partnership to include Alexa Linking, a new feature that makes it easier to activate and enjoy Pandora’s music streaming service on all Alexa smart speakers including Echo, Echo Dot, and Echo Show.

Alexa Linking is available for Pandora users on iOS starting today, but Android users will get it as well at a later date, Pandora confirmed in a blog post.

Up until now, Pandora could only be enabled via the Alexa app or website, which would automatically require users to re-enter their Pandora login credentials during set-up. However, with Alexa Linking, iPhone users can now activate Pandora on their Alexa devices directly from within the Pandora mobile app, without having to re-enter their information if they already have the Alexa app installed.

On top of that, the new Alexa Linking feature enables users to activate Pandora on Alexa with simple voice commands like “Alexa, play my Thumbprint Radio” or “Alexa, play my slow jams playlist.”

If you’re using an iPhone, you’ll be able to link with Alexa using the Pandora mobile app, but make sure you’re running the latest version of the app.
