Surface Duo 2 Receives March 2022 Update
Microsoft has started rolling out the March 2022 update for the Surface Duo 2. If you were hoping for performance or camera improvements, this month’s update only seems to bring security fixes.
The brief release notes for the March 2022 update say that it only “addresses scenarios outlined in the Android Security Bulletin for March 2022.” In comparison, the February 2022 update for the Surface Duo 2 brought improved touch responsiveness, better camera performance with autofocus, as well as smoother device animations.
Even though it was released last fall, Microsoft’s Surface Duo 2 shipped with 2020’s Android 11. Google announced earlier this month that Microsoft would be one of the first Android manufacturers to adopt Android 12L, an update to Android 12 with special features or tablets and foldables later this year, though Microsoft has yet to provide more details.
Microsoft is still new to making Android devices, and the company isn’t in a hurry to keep up with major Android updates. The original Surface Duo only received Android 11 in January, and the March 2022 updates for this device are not available yet.
