Google announced this week that customers can now purchase Google Fi SIM cards at over 500 Best Buy retail locations in the United States.

“We’re very excited to announce that Fi SIM cards are now available for purchase in 500+ Best Buy stores across the US,” the firm revealed on Reddit for some reason. “These SIMs will be sold separately from devices and are priced at $9.99. When you purchase a Fi SIM from participating Best Buy stores, you are eligible to receive a $10 service credit upon SIM activation on Fi (with a limit of one qualifying activation per person and a limit of six qualifying activations per group plan).”

To be clear, Google Fi SIMs are actually free, and customers can order a replacement or duplicate at any time directly from Google. The only issue with that system, of course, is that you have to wait for the SIM card to arrive in the mail. So the Best Buy availability is a nice option for those who need the card immediately. And the $10 cost is refunded via a $10 service credit, making that purchase free as well.

There is one caveat, however: Best Buy only sells “normal” talk and text SIM cards, not data-only SIMs. If you need a data-only SIM for your secondary devices, you will still need to order that directly from Google. Yes, this type of SIM is free as well.
