Edge Makes its Way to iPad and Android Tablets
This shouldn’t be too surprising but Microsoft is ready to complete the mobile roll-out of Edge. Announced today, with an update to their original blog post, is that Edge can now be downloaded on the iPad and Android tablets.
This version of Edge is just like the one for smaller-screen devices and has support for favorites (including Roaming Favorites), Reading List, New Tab Page, Reading View, and Roaming Passwords. The company will continue to bring additional features to these apps but nothing has been announced at this time.
While it may seem odd that Microsoft is bringing an iteration of its browser to mobile devices, it’s a necessary requirement to remain competitive in the browser landscape. Further, this version of Edge is not based on Microsoft’s own rendering engine but instead uses webkit.
If you want to download the app today, head to the store on your device and you should be able to find it via search. If that doesn’t work, you can go to Microsoft’s page and they can email you a link as well.
