Microsoft announced today that GitHub Copilot for Business is now generally available, bringing the AI pair programmer to developer teams of all sizes.

“GitHub Copilot builds the power of generative AI into an editor extension that suggests code in real-time,” GitHub’s Thomas Dohmke writes. “It works with code and natural language prompts to offer multiple suggestions that can quickly be accepted or rejected—and it learns alongside developers to adapt to individual coding styles and conventions. With GitHub Copilot, developers can use the editor of their choice from Visual Studio to Neovim, VS Code, or JetBrains IDEs.”

Announced at GitHub Universe in November, GitHub Copilot for Business follows in the footsteps of the original GitHub Copilot, which was released in June 2022 and lets developers use natural language prompts in their editor to get coding suggestions. Over 400 companies are already using GitHub Copilot for Business

Microsoft also announced that it plans to integrate AI into every aspect of the GitHub developer experience in the coming years, “from coding to the pull request to code deployments, so developers can build their best in a world where all organizations will be more dependent on their success than ever.” GitHub Copilot for Business is the first step towards this future, the company says.
