Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro Series Brings Secured-Core Capabilities to Consumers

Posted February 27, 2022 | Hardware | Mobile | Samsung | Samsung Galaxy Book Pro | Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360 | Windows | Windows 11

Samsung today announced a new generation of its New Galaxy Book2 Pro series of premium portable PCs.

“Our goal at Samsung is not just to create mobile technology, but to give our users unique experiences that fundamentally enhance their everyday lives,” Samsung Electronics executive vice president Hark-sang Kim said. “As part of this pursuit, we are reimagining the PC. Together, with seamless continuity across our Galaxy devices and secure mobility, users can unlock more efficiency and enable the possibilities of the office of tomorrow.”

Based on Windows 11 and 12th-generation Intel Core processors, the Galaxy Book2 Pro series is the first consumer PC lineup to meet Microsoft’s secured-core PC requirements, meaning that they feature integrated hardware, firmware, and software that together protect against potential cyber-attacks. Previously, secured-core PCs were made for industries like financial services, government, and healthcare, for workers who handle highly-sensitive intellectual property, or customer or personal data, or any others who are “higher value targets for nation-state attackers.”

There are two primary Galaxy Book2 Pro models, the Galaxy Book2 Pro and Galaxy Book2 Pro x360, the latter of which features a convertible design and an S-Pen; both are available in 13.3- and 15.6-inch versions. Samsung is also announcing a lower-cost 13.3-inch Galaxy Book2 360, with an optional S-Pen.

The Galaxy Book2 Pro and Galaxy Book2 Pro x360 both provide a power key-based fingerprint reader, Wi-Fi 6E connectivity, a front-facing Full HD (1920 x 1080) webcam, support for up to 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of NVMe SSD storage, and each supports up to 21 hours of battery life. The Galaxy Book2 Pro is available in Silver and Graphite and starts at $1050, while the Galaxy Book2 Pro x360 comes in Burgundy, Graphite, and Silver, and starts at $1250.

As for the Galaxy Book2 360, this convertible starts at $900 and will be available in Silver or Graphite. It ships with up to 16 GB of RAM, 1 TB of SSD storage, a 720p front-facing webcam, a power kye-based fingerprint reader, Dolby Atmos sound, and Wi-Fi 6E connectivity.

Preorders start March 18 with April 1 availability.
